Travelogue

  • My Yangpu business trip room facility experience log

This time I came to Yangpu, Shanghai to connect with school enterprise projects. After being busy for half a day at Wujiaochang, I dragged my suitcase and checked into Baolong Hotel Shanghai. The moment I opened the door, I realized that the room facilities of this old hotel completely broke my stereotype of outdated hotel facilities.
I booked a business landscape room, and as soon as I stood at the door, I was struck by the details of the entrance: there was a thick silent door stopper hanging behind the door, and four hanging points were reserved in the adjacent hanging area. My coat, backpack, and newly purchased project information bag could all be hung up easily without being piled up on my suitcase. In the embedded shoe cabinet on the left side of the entrance, not only are there two pairs of thick soled anti-skid slippers, but also shoe picks and shoe cleaning cloths are thoughtfully prepared. After running to college all day and getting dusty, the leather shoes can be easily wiped clean.
The core office and rest area of the room completely exceeded expectations, with a 1.8-meter large bed covered with high count cotton bedding. There is no slippery feeling like a cheap hotel when lying down, and the mattress is moderately soft and hard, neither too soft to sink in nor too hard to hurt the waist. The most surprising thing is the layout of the bedside facilities, with independent USB charging ports and five socket outlets on both sides, eliminating the need to compete for charging potential. Each is also equipped with an adjustable angle bedside reading light. In the evening, my colleagues and I worked on PPT presentations and project materials without interfering with each other. The spacious solid wood office desk by the window is specially designed with Ethernet ports and hidden sockets. My dual screen computer and external keyboard can be connected simultaneously, and the high-speed Wi Fi is stable throughout the entire process without dropping. It can transfer several hundred megabits of experimental data files in just a few seconds. Next to the leisure sofa by the window, there is a specially equipped electric kettle and local tea bags. When you are busy and tired, you can brew a cup of hot tea. Looking up, you can see the traffic around the island in Wujiaochang, and the distant university campus with swaying trees, full of the unique atmosphere of Yangpu.
The facilities in the bathroom are intricately detailed, with a complete separation of dry and wet areas. The sealing strip of the glass door fits perfectly, and the floor won't get wet even after taking a shower. The constant temperature hot water system produces hot water within three seconds of opening, with just the right amount of water flow and no sudden changes in temperature. The storage rack in the shower area has been designed with layers, allowing shower gel, shampoo, and personal toiletries to be neatly arranged without tilting around. The countertop of the washbasin is spacious enough to hold all my office skincare products, and the mirror next to it has been treated with anti fog. After taking a shower, I don't have to wipe the mirror with fog for a long time. There is also a magnifying makeup mirror specially placed on the countertop, which is very friendly to business people who often need to tidy up and meet customers.
The most easily overlooked details are also well done. The central air conditioning in the room is silent, and even when turned on to 24 degrees, there is almost no sound of operation. Sleeping with it on at night will not be disturbed by noise. The curtains by the window are double layered, with one layer of gauze curtains and one layer of full blackout curtains. If you want to sleep in, pull up the full blackout curtains, and the room will be dark like late at night, completely unaffected by the morning sunlight. The TV is a high-definition smart model that supports screen mirroring with a mobile phone. If you don't want to go out at night, you can simply stream the on-site videos taken during the day onto the big screen and slowly organize them from the comfort of your bed.
I stayed for two nights without encountering any facility malfunctions. Everything was clean and functional, without the common issues of paint peeling, water stains, or lagging in old hotels. Compared to the flashy but impractical decorations of many internet famous hotels, every facility of Baolong Hotel Shanghai perfectly meets the daily needs of business guests. This down-to-earth comfort is the most rare experience of business travel accommodation. Next time I come to Yangpu, I will definitely stay in this room again.Show more

  • A steadfast foothold by the pentagonal field

This time when I came to Yangpu, Shanghai for business, I deliberately avoided the crowded internet famous hotels in the Wujiaochang commercial district and chose Baolong Hotel Shanghai. After staying there, I realized that this old hotel, located next to the university, had hidden the most reassuring sense of security for living in Shanghai and had become the most comfortable destination for my trip to Shanghai.
Walking over 500 meters from Jiangwan Sports Stadium Station on Metro Line 10, you don't have to take a detour with your luggage. Along the way, you can also see the old school gate of Fudan University, and the streets are filled with a youthful atmosphere. As soon as I arrived at the entrance of the hotel, the security guard stepped forward to help open the glass door and took my backpack with the information in it. He smiled and reminded me that during the evening rush hour in the Wujiaochang business district, avoiding certain spots could save me a lot of time. At the moment I pushed open the lobby, there was no excessive luxury stacking, warm toned lighting, and clean space, which instantly relieved my fatigue from sitting on the high-speed train all the way.
When checking in, the front desk staff heard that I was coming to Yangpu University to attend an academic conference. They took the initiative to arrange a quiet room on a high-rise building far away from the elevator entrance, and even handed me a handwritten note with the nearby university's commuting route marked on it. They even quietly told me where to eat the authentic Fudan cafeteria's signature dishes. As soon as I opened the door, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the room was spacious and bright. The partially renovated room, which was just completed in 2024, had no sense of antiquity. The soft furnishings in light tones were matched with clean solid wood furniture, and the view from the window could directly see the lights of the Wujiaochang commercial district in the distance. In the evening, when I opened the curtains, the traffic slowly flowed around the island, full of the vibrant atmosphere of Shanghai. The room was cleaned spotlessly, and the bedding was fluffy and soft. After a busy day of meetings, lying down for a while relieved the soreness all over my body.
The most unforgettable thing is the homely taste in the hotel. The next morning, I went to have a buffet breakfast. There are all kinds of Shanghai special breakfast, such as fried buns, small Wonton, and rice cakes. The soybean milk is so fragrant that even people like me who don't like sweet drinks two bowls of it. I don't want to go out in the evening. The Chinese restaurant downstairs orders our Braised pork belly. The temperature is properly controlled, fat but not greasy. The assorted stir fried vegetables are fresh and sweet. You don't have to queue up in the old city to eat authentic home cooking.
Living here for a few days, traveling and having fun are particularly worry free. It takes only ten minutes to walk to Wujiaochang Wanda Plaza, where various internet famous restaurants, trendy shops, and cinemas are available. After strolling the streets at night, you can walk back slowly and arrive in less than ten minutes, even saving you a taxi. Drive fifteen minutes directly to Gongqing Forest Park, no need to wake up early and rush to open the park. After sleeping enough, take a leisurely walk and have a picnic in the forest during off peak hours, without having to wait in long queues. In my spare time, I walked along the university trail beside me, and wutong leaves fell on the ground. The students' laughter and talk were in my ears, as if I had suddenly returned to college time. I accidentally left my USB drive in my room before leaving. After checking out, I realized that I was trying it out and called the front desk. That afternoon, I received a package sent back by the hotel, without even covering the shipping cost.
Throughout the stay, there were no deliberate internet celebrity gimmicks, but the comfort of an old hotel was perfectly integrated with the youthful atmosphere around the university. Compared to the crowded accommodations in the business district, the quietness and comfort of Baolong Hotel Shanghai actually made me feel a different fireworks atmosphere in Shanghai. Next time I come to Yangpu for business, I will definitely choose this place directly.Show more
